This is more of a collage than a manip. It shows my cast as well as a silhouette of how I came to break my tibia and fibula as well as tearing most of the ligaments in my ankle.
Believe it or not, I was trying to get my bloody cat to come inside before it started raining at 11.30pm on Sunday, January 29th (06). She just sat there on the fence at the bottom of the garden looking at me and not moving. So I went back inside and brought a tin of food and a spoon to tap it (that sound usually makes her come running). No, she just licked her paw defiantly. By this stage I was pretty angry with her. I was standing on top the the retaining wall which makes a level surface as our back yard is on a hillside and thus slopes. The height varies depending on where you are standing on it. I thought I was standing on the bit which was about a foot and a half, so I jumped off instead of walking around the side. In actual fact I jumped off the part which was over a metre high! All my body weight landed on my little right toe, then I rolled and heard a loud crack. My foot was turned at a 90 degree angle. I yelled out to Mum and long story short I went by ambulance to the emergency room.
Needless to say, it was very painful. I had to have surgery, which gave me 3 pins, 1 plate & 1 screw. The screw has to be removed in a couple of weeks.
I finally got a fibreglass cast that I could draw on and was a damn sight lighter that the plaster one I had that made me feel like the mafia had given me a concrete boot to 'sleep with the fishes.'
I also had another problem as I got a lung infection from the surgery, but the it was initially thought it was a blood clot it my lung. But that's another story! PS. I HATE cat scans!!!
Thankyou to everyone who posted nice messages (especially iceytina).
I forgot to update this. When I originally wrote this, I had been told I had 3 pins, 1 plate & 1 screw. I think the doc had somone else's x-ray. In actual fact, I had 1 small screw and 1 large screw. The large screw was removed 2 months later. It was only after I had the large screw removed that I found out by seeing my actual x-ray that I only had two screws. I was very relieved to find out that my injury wasn't as bad as I had been led to believe for over 2 months!!!
I was in one of those things for months after shattering my ankle. Mine was purple. Its been a year know and the damn thing still aint healed. I have had 2 ops on it and am currently hobbling about in an aircast. I had synthetic bone injected into mine in June.. will find out in two days if its worked. However, i truly sympathise with your situation. The agony of broken bones is like nothing on earth. Hope you are on the mend now. and best wishes to you. x

Terribly sorry to hear that - a year and 2 ops later!!! Wow synthetic bone, I'e never heard of that before. Did they also give you the electrical stimulation thingy? I didn't need that thank god! Mine is a lot better, but I'm still having physio. There's a great site call [link] where people have posted their stories of how they broke their bones.
Cool Site! Thanks.. I found out yesterday that its actually healed! So now i have to return to work and im dreading it. I didnt have any electrical stimulation thingy.. Which is good coz i think if i had any more medical intervention i would have killed somebody!

Thankyou! I was very pleased once I got the fiberglass cast, not only because it was alot lighter that the plaster, (which I'm pretty sure is mixed with cement!) but also because I could draw on it. (The plaster had a bandage over it). Around the ankle I drew some ancient healing and strength symbols from different cultures.
